A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Mr. B. P. Ledbetter has been selected as Distinguished
Engineer of the Year by the Nueces Chapter, Texas Society of Professional
Engineers; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ledbetter was honored as Distinguished Engineer of
the Year at the annual Engineers Week banquet in Corpus Christi on
February 17, 1978; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ledbetter's service as Gas Superintendent for the
City of Corpus Christi for the past thirty years has been characterized by
the highest degree of professionalism, thereby enabling him to be considered
for this honor; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ledbetter's engineering and management ability have
Improved the gas distribution system of the City of Corpus Christi from a
system which lost as much as one -third of its gas in leakage thirty years
ago to its present condition as one of the finest gas distribution systems
in the world; and
WHEREAS, the City Council takes pride in the deserving selection
of Mr. Ledbetter as Distinguished Engineer of the Year;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Mr. B. P. Ledbetter is hereby commended for his
excellent, faithful, and untiring service to the community, and the City
Council expresses appreciation to him on behalf of the citizens of Corpus
Christi and congratulates him on receipt of Distinguished Engineer of the
Year Award.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
