AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE N0, 3658, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING
SECTION 255 THEREOF TO ESTABLISH THE POSITION OF
MEDICAL TECHNICIAN; AND BY AMENDING SECTION 257
THEREOF BY RECLASSIFYING THE POSITIONS OF ASSISTANT
STREET SUPERINTENDENT AND PARK MAINTENANCE SUPERIN-
TENDENT, AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH HEREINAFTER, PRO-
VIDING A SEVERANCE CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 255 of Ordinance No. 3658, as amended,
be and the same is hereby amended to establish the fallowing position:
HEALTH AND EDUCATION
CLASS CODE CLASS TITLE CLASS GRADE
500 Medical Technician 24
and that Section 257 of Ordinance 3658, as amended, be and the same is
hereby amended by reclassifying the following positions:
LABOR AND TRADES
CLASS CODE CLASS TITLE FROM GRADE TO GRADE
728 Assistant Street Superintendent 26 29
765 Park Maintenance Superintendent 24 25
SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid
or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction
it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this
City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 3. The fact that there is a need to maintain at all
times an efficient administration of City affairs creates a public emergency
and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of
its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such
emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of

the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of
its introduction and take effect and be to full force and effect from and
after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 22-r Lday of
February, 1978.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
