HomeMy WebLinkAbout14195 RES - 02/22/1978• JKH:vp:2 /22/78:lst is A RESOLUTION ABOLISHING THE CITIZENS COMMITTEE FOR COMMUNITY IMPROVE- MENT, ESTABLISHED BY RESOLUTION NOS. 7930 AND 10487; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Citizens Committee for Community Improvement, established under the Department of Housing and Urban Development by Resolu- tion No. 7930, passed and approved by the City Council on March 2, 1966, and by Resolution No. 10487, approved by the City Council on September 29, 1971, be and the same is hereby abolished. SECTION 2. The abolition of the aforesaid committee shall be and become effective from and after the passage of this Resolution. SECTION 3. The necessity to abolish the Citizens Committee for Community Improvement as aforesaid creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and neces- sity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the day f February, 1978.
