AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE AND RESALE OF A 370 -135
CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT AND VARIOUS PERIPHERAL
EQUIPMENT AND AMENDING THE 1977 -78 BUDGET FOR THE
DATA PROCESSING FUND BY ESTIMATING ADDITIONAL REVENUE
OF $547,820 FROM TLW COMPUTER INDUSTRIES FOR SALE OF
THE 370 -135 CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT AND FROM SYSTEM
MARKETING, INC., FOR THE SALE OF VARIOUS PERIPHERAL
EQUIPMENT;' APPROPRIATING $502,561.01 OUT OF THE NO.133
DATA PROCESSING FUND FOR ACTIVITY 6313,`CODE 506, FOR
PAYMENT TO IBM FOR THE UNPAID BALANCE OF THE ABOVE
EQUIPMENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That authorization is hereby given for purchase and
resale of a 370 -135 Central Processing Unit and various peripheral equipment,
and the 1977 -78 budget for the Data Processing Fund is amended by estimating
additional revenue of $547,820 from TLW Computer Industries for sale of the
370 -135 Central Processing Unit and from System Marketing, Inc., for the
sale of various peripheral equipment.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $502,561.01
out of the No.-133 Data Processing Fund.for Activity 6313, Code 506, for
payment to IBM for the unpaid balance of the above described equipment.
SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize purchase and resale of

a 370 -135 Central Processing Unit and various peripheral equipment, as above
described, and provide funds for the unpaid balance of the said equipment,
creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring
the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance
or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,
andthe Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having
requested the suspension of the Charter.rule and that this ordinance
be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be

in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO

Purpose Payment to IBM for unpaid balance of
central processing unit and various
other equipment from which it is proposed to be drawn subject to receipt of
$201,000 from TLW Computer Industries for sale of IBM 360135 Central
Processing Unit, and such money is not appropriated for any other purpose.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
