AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING SECTION 55 -5 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES,
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, 1976 REVISION, SO AS TO
PROVIDE A REDUCED FARE FOR PERSONS ENROLLED IN
THE YOUTH SERVICES PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY THE
CORPUS CHRISTI INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 55 -5 of the Code of Ordinances, City
of Corpus Christi, 1976 Revision, entitled "City Transit System -- Fares ",
is hereby amended by adding a subparagraph (7) under paragraph (A) Regular
Services, to read as follows:
11(7) All persons enrolled in the Youth Services Program
administered by the Corpus Christi Independent School District
shall be entitled to ride the transit system buses by presenting
to the driver a special Youth Services Program pass.
Youth Services Program passes shall be valid for twenty
(20) rides and sold for two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50).
Provided however, for a trip on a Youth Services Program
pass there shall be.noa additional charge or fare for crossing
any number of zones."
SECTION 2. That the necessity to amend the transit fare schedule
as hereinabove set forth at the earliest practicable date creates a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of
the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally
on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall
be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having
declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension
of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
