HomeMy WebLinkAbout14379 ORD - 07/12/1978JKH:vp:7 /1'Q /78:1st TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SOUTHWEST - RATHGEBER COMPANY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS FOR THE DEMOLITION OF THE GREENWOOD DRIVE INCINERATOR BUILDING; APPROPRIATING $40,000 OUT OF THE NO_ 162 FEDERAL /STATE GRANTS FUND, ACTIVITY - 4737;- CODE,'346 v 4TH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT, (DEMOLITION -CITY WIDE) OF WHICH $37,444.70 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $2,555.30 IS FOR INCIDENTAL AND RELATED EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Southwest - Rathgeber Company of Austin, Texas for the demolition of the Greenwood Drive Incinerator Building, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Southwest - Rathgeber Company of Austin, Texas opened July 5, 1978, said bid being the lowest and most advan- tageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $40,000 out of the No. 162 Federal /State Grants Fund, Activity-�4737, Code= r46;�4th Year Community Development Block Grant, (Demolition -City Wide) of which $37,444.70 is for the construction contract and $2,555.30 is for incidental and related expenses. SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set forth so that demolition may be commenced at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, ATTEST: A�ey-z city Secretary APPROV D: DAY OF JULY, 1978: J.
