AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE 14216, PASSED AND APPROVED
MARCH 1, 1978, PERTAINING TO THE WATER MAIN
IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
1. FLOUR BLUFF DRIVE, A TWELVE -INCH DIAMETER
LINE FROM NEAR RAMFIELD ROAD SOUTHWEST-
WARD TO THE INTERSECTION WITH YORKTOWN
BOULEVARD.
2. YORKTOWN BOULEVARD, AN EIGHT -INCH DIAMETER
LINE FROM FLOUR BLUFF DRIVE WESTWARD 1,280
FEET ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE SAID STREET.
BY AMENDING SECTION 3 OF SAID ORDINANCE SO AS TO
CORRECT AND ADJUST ASSESSMENTS LEVIED AGAINST
ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNERS, ALL AS HEREINAFTER
PROVIDED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 14216, passed and approved by
the City Council on the 8th day of March, 1978, closing the hearing on
water main improvements for portions of Flour Bluff Drive and Yorktown
Boulevard, in the City.of Corpus Christi, be amended by correcting and
adjusting the assessments levied against abutting property on the following
streets:
1. Flour Bluff Drive, a twelve -inch diameter line
from near Ramfield Road southwestward to the
intersection with Yorktown Boulevard.
2. Yorktown Boulevard, an eight -inch diameter
line from Flour Bluff Drive westward 1,280
feet on the north side of the said street,
as more fully described ip the corrected and adjusted assessment roll,
a substantial copy of which is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A" and
made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. The necessity to immediately amend the assessment
roll as herein set forth creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro-
duction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such
emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the

Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the

WATER MAIN INSTALLATION
FLOUR BLUFF DRIVE AND YORKTOWN BOULEVARD
This project includes the installation of an 8" Water Main -on Yorktown
Boulevard and a 12" Water Main on Flour Bluff Drive.
The 12" diameter line is constructed from the existing water main near
Ramfield Road southwestward along the West side of Flour Bluff Drive for 1920'
to the intersection with Yorktown Boulevard.
The 8" diameter line is connected to the 12" line and is constructed along
the North side of Yorktown Boulevard for 1280' where it ends.
Fire hydrants, valves, and necessary connecting fittings are installed.
The water main is laid with a 4 foot minimum ground cover and is within the
street right -of -way as shown on the project plans. All construction was
accomplished by city work forces.
The assessment rate was calculated in accordance with the present assessment
policy adopted by the City and using estimated construction costs. Based on
estimated project cost this rate is as follows:
Assessment Rate (Water Main) @ $7.08 per L.F.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
