A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, W. N. "Pat" Scarborough, Jr., Director of Maintenance
Services for the City of Corpus Christi, was on August 5, 1978, called to
his eternal rest; and
WHEREAS, W. N. "Pat" Scarborough, Jr., was a loyal, dedicated
municipal employee, having devoted 32 years to public service with three
different Texas cities, serving in Corpus Christi since August of 1970,
first as Second Assistant Director of Public Works and then as Director
of Maintenance Services from 1973 until his passing; and
WHEREAS, among his numerous accomplishments W. N. "Pat" Scarborough,
Jr.,will be remembered for his direction of a division of almost one
hundred employees, directing maintenance and repair of city vehicles,
two -way radios and other city communications equipment, and city build-
ings as Director of Maintenance Services; for his service as Second Assist-
ant Director of Public Works for the City of Corpus Christi from 1970 to
1973; for service as-Director of Public Works for the City of Orange from
1960 to 1970, after working two years previously as Superintendent of
Maintenance Services for -that city; for his service as the first city
electrician for the City of Orange, serving from 1946 to 1958; and for
his service from 1958 to 1960 as Superintendent of Electrical and Communi-
cations for the City of Pasadena, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the passing of this dedicated, loyal municipal employee
is a great loss to the citizens of the City of Corpus Christi as well as
to his family and many friends, leaving a void in the community:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That this brief record of the many accomplishments
of W. N. "Pat" Scarborough, Jr., be recalled and that the citizens of .
this community join in mourning the loss of this valuable citizen.
SECTION 2. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to
the family of W. N. "Pat" Scarborough, Jr.

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
