A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND
EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE COASTAL BEND COUNCIL
OF GOVERNMENTS FOR THE PROVISION OF SPECIALIZED
TRANSPORTATION SERVICES FOR MEDICAID RECIPIENTS
IN CORPUS CHRISTI AND NUECES COUNTY UTILIZING
THE CITY'S ELDERLY TRANSPORTATION VANS; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Human Resources has requested
the City to submit a proposal for the provision`of specialized trans-
portation services for Medicaid recipients;
WHEREAS, the City has supplied these specialized services
under contract with the Coastal Bend Council of Government during the
past year and has the capability to continue to supply the desired
services;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
negotiate and execute a contract with the Coastal Bend Council of
Governments in the amount of $66,599 for the provision of specialized
transportation services for Medicaid recipients in the City of Corpus
Christi and Nueces County from September 1, 1978 through August 312 1979.
SECTION 2. That the necessity to execute aLl necessary and
related documents in order to implement the service when contracted
create a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring
the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date of its introduction, but that such ordinance
or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,
and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist,
and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this

resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take
effect and be in full force and /effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED this 6 day of Septemb , 1978.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
