HomeMy WebLinkAbout14503 ORD - 09/13/1978JKH:vp:9 /13/78:24 TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 14415, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON AUGUST 2, 1978, WHICH ORDINANCE ADOPTED THE 1978 -79 BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, BY APPROPRIATING $5,000 FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATED FUND BALANCE OF THE TOURIST AND CONVENTION FUND, NO. 103, TO INCREASE THE APPROPRIATION FOR ACTIVITY 5501, TOURIST AND CONVENTION DEVELOPMENT, CODE 301, AND INCREASING THE BUDGET FOR THE CONTRACT WITH THE TOURIST AND CONVENTION BUREAU FROM $460,000 TO $465,000, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ADDI- TIONAL ADVERTISING TO PROMOTE TOURISM TO CORPUS.CHRISTI THROUGH TELEVISION OF THE SECOND ANNUAL PADRE ISLES CHAL- LENGE CUP TENNIS TOURNAMENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 14415, passed and approved by the City Council on August 2, 1978, which ordinance adopted the 1978 -79 Budget for the City of Corpus Christi, be and the same is hereby amended by appro- priating $5,000 from the Unappropriated Fund balance of the Tourist and Convention Fund, No. 103, to increase the appropriation for Activity 5501, Tourist and Convention Development, Code 301, and increasing the budget for the contract with the Corpus Christi Area Convention and Tourist Bureau from $460,000 to $465,000, for the purpose of additional advertising to promote tourism to Corpus Christi through television of the second annual Padre Isles Challenge Cup Tennis Tournament. 'SECTION 2. The necessity to amend the 1978 -79 Budget as aforesaid creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 1 '3 day of September, 1978.
