AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ARTICLE III SCHEDULES, SECTION 53 -250
SCHEDULE I - ONE WAY STREETS AND ALLEYS, SUBSECTION
a BY DELETING THE SECOND SENTENCE THEREOF, AND
IN LIEU THEREOF PROVIDING FOR ONE -WAY DESIGNATION
OF STREETS DURING SCHOOL DAYS BY THE DIRECTOR OF
TRAFFIC AND TRANSIT SO AS TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH
SCHOOL HOURS AND WHEN SO INDICATED BY SIGNS; AMENDING
SUBSECTION (a -1) OF SAID SECTION 53 -250 SCHEDULE I -
ONE WAY STREETS AND ALLEYS BY DELETING THEREFROM
ALL THAT IS CONTAINED UNDER "EFFECTIVE TIMES ";
"REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH;
PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Article III SCHEDULES, Section 53 -250 Schedule I -
One -way streets and alleys, be amended by deleting from Subsection (a),
the second sentence in its entirety, and in lieu therof, adopting the
following provisions:
"All streets designated as one -way during school days shall
be one -way only between those hours established by the Director of Traffic
and Transit so as to be compatible with school hours and when so indicated
by signs."
SECTION 2. That Subsection (a -1) of said Section 53 -250 be
amended by deleting therefrom all of that which is contained under "Effective
Times."
SECTION 3. That any ordinance or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same is hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4. The terms of this ordinance shall become effective
upon the passage of this ordinance.
SECTION 5. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of
this ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance -
SECTION 6. The necessity to amend the City Code as hereinabove
provided at the earliest practicable date in order to maintain a comprehen-
sive traffic ordinance in order, to protect the public health, safety and
welfare of the public creates a public emergency and an imperative public

necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that
such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity
to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that
this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take
effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the�day of Novem6 1478.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
