AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE DOCUMENTS
NECESSARY FOR THE ACQUISITION OF PARCELS 67 THROUGH
72, 74, AND 76 THROUGH 79, BLOCK 61; PARCELS 80, 81,
86 AND 87, BLOCK 62; PARCEL 55, BLOCK 70; PARCELS
56 THROUGH 61, 63, 64 AND 66, BLOCK 71; PARCELS 16,
17 AND 19, BLOCK 89; PARCEL 90, BLOCK 96, ALL IN
CONNECTION WITH THE BAYFRONT SCIENCE PARK PROJECT,
NO. 209- 76 -1.3; APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 209
COMMUNITY CONVENTION FACILITY BOND FUND THE SUM
OF $395,000, OF WHICH $380,000 IS FOR ACQUISITION
AT THE APPROVED VALUES AND $15,000 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES
° AND INCIDENTAL COSTS RELATED TO CLOSING; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute documents necessary for the acquisition of the following parcels
from the respective owners, all in connection with the Bayfront Science
Park Project, No. 209- 76 -1.3: Parcels 67 through 72, 74, and 76 through 79,
Block 61; Parcels 80, 81, 86 and 87, Block 62; Parcel 55, Block 70; Parcels
56 through 61, 63, 64 and 66, Block 71; Parcels 16, 17 and 19, Block 89;
Parcel 90, Block 96, all in Beach Portion, an addition to the City of
Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, said parcels and owners being more
fully described on the attached Exhibit "A ".
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 209
Community Convention Facility Bond Fund the sum of $395,000, of which
$380,000 is for acquisition at the approved values and $15,000 is for
contingencies and incidental costs related to closing.
SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize acquisition of the afore-
said parcels and appropriation of the sums hereinabove described in order
to effect the purchase for the Bayfront Science Park Project creates a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the
date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having
declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the sus-
pension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on

the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the
day of November, 1978.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
