HomeMy WebLinkAbout14682 ORD - 12/20/1978vp:12 /20/78:lst AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 14648, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THIRD AND FINAL READING, ON DECEMBER 13, 1978, ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 20TH DAY OF JANUARY, 1979, UPON THE QUESTION OF ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CITY CHARTER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO MAKE CHANGES IN SECTION 7, AS HEREIN- AFTER SET FORTH; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,,' TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 14648, passed and approved by the City Council on its third and final reading, December 13, 1978 be amended as follows: Deleting Section 7 in its entirety and substituting therefor as Section 7 the following: The City Secretary is directed to cause a copy of this ordinance to be posted at the City Hall in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, and to cause to be published in the Corpus Christi Times, the official newspaper of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, being a newspaper of general circulation published within the City, the notice of election in accordance with the requirements of Article 1170, R.C.S. of Texas as amended. SECTION 2. That the necessity to immediately amend the ordinance ordering an election to be held on the 20th day of January, 1979, upon the question of adopting en amendment as hereinabove set forth creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full forc and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED L"day of December, 1978.
