AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
1976 REVISION, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 13-49
AND 53-60 SO AS TO INCREASE THE FEES WHICH A VEHICLE
OWNER WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY IN ORDER TO RECLAIM A
VEHICLE FROM THE CITY CAR POUNDS; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICA-
TION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christi,
1976 Revision, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended by amending
Sections 13-49 and 53-60 as follows:
A. Repeal Subsection (1) of Section 13-49. Fees for Impounding,
Storage, etc., and in lieu thereof, adopt the following provisions:
"(1) For the taking and impounding of any personal
property, where a wrecker is necessary, twenty-
five dollars ($25.00)."
B. Amend Subsection (2) of Section 13-49 by changing the
storage fee from $1.00 to $2.00, said Subsection (2) to hereafter read
as follows:
"(2) Storage fee, including storage for all or part
of the first twenty-four (24) hours, two dollars
($2.00), and for each twenty-four (24) hour
period or portion thereof:"
C. Amend Section 53-60. Same - Redemption of vehicles; fees
for impounding and storage, by changing the service charge from $10 to
$25, and deleting reference to charge for use of a dolly, said Subsection
(2) to hereafter read as follows:
"(2) Upon the payment of a towing fee of twenty-five
dollars ($25.00)."
D. Amend Section 53-60, Subsection (3), by substituting the
words "one dollar ($1.00)" with the words "two dollars ($2.00)", said
Subsection (3) to hereafter read as follows:
"(3) Upon the payment of a storage fee of two dollars
($2.00) for the first period of twenty-four (24)
hours or portion thereof, of impoundment, and a
storage fee of two dollars ($2.00) for each sub-
sequent period of twenty-four (24) hours or
portion thereof, which such vehicle is impounded."

SECTION 2. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of
this ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.
SECTION 3. The necessity to amend the City Code as hereinabove
set forth at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and
an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its
introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such
emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the
Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of
its introduction and that such ordinance take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage and publication, IT IS ACCORD-
INGLY SO ORDAINED, this the( day of January, 1979.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
