HomeMy WebLinkAbout14771 ORD - 02/14/197911111 vp:2/14/79:1st TEXAS: • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ASPHALT PAVING & CONSTRUCTION COMPANY (APCCO) FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE WASHINGTON-COLES AREA STREET AND WATER IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, PHASE 1; APPROPRIATING $530,000 OF WHICH $102,92.gA4D IS OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND AND $427,079.60 IS OUT OF THE NO. 162 FEDERAL/STATES GRANTS FUND, ACTIVITY 4736, CODE 502, THIRD YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT, $504,235.15 BEING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $25,764.85 BEING FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING, LABORATORY TESTING, INCIDENTAL AND RELATED EXPENSES APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220-77-2.4, WASHINGTON-COLES AREA STREET AND WATER IMPROVEMENTS, PHASE 1; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Asphalt Paving & Construction Company (APCCO) for construction of the Washington -Coles Area Street and Water Improvements Project, Phase 1, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Asphalt Paving & Construction Company (APCCO), opened on the 24th day of January, 1979, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $530,000, of which $102,920.40 is out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund and $427,079.60 is out of the No. 162 Federal/States Grants Fund, Activity 4736, Code 502, Third Year Community Development Block Grant, $504,235.15 being for the con- struction contract and $25,764.85 being for additional engineering, laboratory testing, incidental and related expenses applicable to Project No. 220-77.2-4, Washington -Coles Area Street and Water Improvements, Phase 1. SECTION 3. That the necessity to authorize execution of the afore- said contract and to provide the necessary funds in order to accomplish the aforesaid improvements creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that MICROFILMED `JUt_ 0 81980 14771 • • such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the ATTEST: y ecre ary APPROVED: /4 DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1979: J.
