HomeMy WebLinkAbout14791 ORD - 02/28/1979Jkh:2-27-19;1st. • ' • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH PPG INDUSTRIES FOR SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CONCOURSE AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, SUBJECT TO APPROVAL FROM THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION; APPROPRI- ATING $32,200 OUT OF THE NO. 245 AIRPORT BOND FUND, OF WHICH AMOUNT $29,500 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, $1,200 IS FOR RESIDENT INSPECTION SERVICES, AND $1,500 IS FOR LEGAL ADVERTISING, PRINTING AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 245-77-4.1, SECURITY SCREENING/ CONCOURSE RENOVATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with PPG Industries for security improvements to the concourse at the Corpus Christi International Airport, subject to approval from the Federal Aviation Administration, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of PPG Industries, opened on February 21, 1979, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 245 Airport Bond Fund the sum of $32,200, of which amount $29,500 is for the construction contract, $1,200 is for resident inspection services, and $1,500 is for legal advertising, printing and incidental expenses, applicable to Project No. 245-77-4.1, Security Screening/Concourse Renovation. SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set forth in order that construction of the security screening/concourse renovation at the Corpus Christi Inter- national Airport, subject to approval of the Federal Aviation Administration, may be commenced at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of IIIICROFILiViE© "JUL 0 81980 • the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and r its passage.
