AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING SECTION 19-171 "LICENSE: FEES" OF ARTICLE VI
"MILK AND MILK PRODUCTS" OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY
CODE AS AMENDED SO AS TO GIVE THE CITY COUNCIL AUTHORITY
TO INCREASE MILK LICENSE FEES DURING THE TERM OF THE
LICENSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 19-171 "License: Fees" of Article VI
"Milk and Milk Products" of the Corpus Christi City Code as amended, be amended
by amending the final paragraph of said section to hereafter read as follows:
"Such licenses shall entitle said milk producer, milk producer -
distributor, milk distributor, milk dealer and milk dispensers to
do business in accordance with the provisions of this article, and
unless revoked shall continue in force for a period of one fiscal
year, or fractional part thereof, beginning March 1st each year
and shall be nontransferable and shall be renewed accordingly upon
application and payment of like sum in accordance and subject to
the terms and conditions of this article. The City Council may,
at any time, revise the fee structure and the methods by which the
license fees are determined. Any revision to such fee structure
shall be put into effect upon thirty (30) days notice to the
licensees. Should such revision affect the advance payment made
by the current licensees, the payment will be credited to the
licensees on a prorated basis. License fees shall be paid to the
Collection section of the City of Corpus Christi."
SECTION 2. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately from
and after its passage and publication in accordance with the provisions of the
Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 3. The necessity to amend the Corpus Christi City Code
as hereinafter set forth at the earliest practicable date creates a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the
date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance,
a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the
Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
