HomeMy WebLinkAbout14818 ORD - 03/07/1979• jkh:3-2-79;lst AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE ARCHITECTURAL CONTRACT WITH COTTEN-LANDRETH FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES CONCERNING MODIFICATION AND EXPANSION OF THE TERMINAL BUILDING AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT BY PROVIDING RESIDENT INSPECTION SERVICE FOR SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CONCOURSE AT THE AIRPORT, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE AMEND- MENT, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBIT "A"; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: • SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute an amendment to the architectural contract with Cotten -Landreth for architectural services concerning modification and expansion of the Terminal Building at the Corpus Christi International Airport by providing resident inspection service for security improvements to the Concourse at the Airport, all as more fully set forth in the amendment, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit A. SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize the hereinabove described amendment to the architectural contract at the earliest practicable date in order that modification and expansion of the Terminal Building at the Corpus Christi International Airport may proceed without delay creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the '7 k_L day of March, 1979. BRUCYCOC., CITY ATTORNEY 14818 MICROFILMED "JUL 0 81980 • • AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE CONTRACT FOR ARCHIY'BCTURAL SERVICES The City of Corpus Christi and Cotten/Landreth-Architects agree to the following amendment to the architectural contract for architectural services regarding the modification and expansion of the Terminal Building of the Corpus Christi International Airport which was authorized by the City of Corpus Christi on May 10, 1978 by the passage of Ordinance No. 14308: Cotten/Landreth-Architects agree to perform the resident inspection services for the security screening and concourse renovation during the construction phase as outlined below. 1. Check shop and working drawings when required and furnished by the contractor. 2. Consult with and advise the City during construction. 3. Generally observe the work and interpret the plans and specifications by periodic visits (as distinguished from the continuous services of a resident project representative) to the site by a qualified inspector. In performing these services, the Architect will endeavor to protect the City against defects and deficiencies in the work of the contractor, but he cannot guarantee the performance of the contractor, nor be responsible for the actual supervision of construction operations or for the safety measures that the contractor takes or should take. 4. Prepare monthly and final estimates for payments to the contractor, based on the contractor's submittal. q Perform the final inspection. 6. Revise the construction drawings to show the project as actiully constructed. The architect further agrees to perform the above services for a fee of $1,200 to be paid monthly as a percentage of construction completed. X CUTED THIS day of ,1979. MARVIN TOWNSEND, CITY MANAGER • Corpus Christi, Tex s 1 day of „ 19/g TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
