HomeMy WebLinkAbout14843 ORD - 03/28/1979• RWC:vp:3/20/79:2d AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A FEE TO BE CHARGED AGAINST OWNERS OF PROPERTY OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS FOR FIRE CALLS WHERE SUCH CALLS DO NOT INVOLVE PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO OTHER INCORPORATED MUNICIPALITIES AND THE U.S. NAVY; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE OF DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS TO CITY COUNCIL AND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS; AND PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH HEREINAFTER. • WHEREAS, in response to fire emergencies outside the city limits in 1978, the City's Fire Department answered 109 calls with an average of two units of fire fighting equipment for each call, with a total of 3,712 miles traveled in meeting such emergencies; and WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Council of the City of Corpus Christi that a token fee should be charged against property owners outside the limits of the City who are served by the Corpus Christi Fire Department: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby established a fee to be charged against owners of property outside the city limits for fire calls where such calls do not involve providing assistance to other incorporated municipalities and the U. S. Navy, said fee to be $100 per truck hour plus $1 per mile traveled, or actual direct cost, whichever is greater, such direct cost to be determined upon the basis of cost of labor, unit operating expenses, mainte- nance costs, utilities cost and firemen's clothing and benefits. SECTION 2. That notification be given to the City Council and the County Commissioners Court when a bill for payment under the ordinance is more than 90 days past due. SECTION 3. That the effective date shall be as of April 1, 1979. An effective date of April 1, 1979. 2. Notification to the City Council and the County Commissioners Court that a bill for payment under the ordinance is more than 90 days past due.
