AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 57, VEHICLES FOR HIRE, OF THE
CORPUS CHRISTI CODE OF ORDINANCES, BY REPEALING
SECTION 57-135. FARES -- AMOUNTS AND IN LIEU
THEREOF ADOPTING NEW PROVISIONS FOR SAID SECTION
57-135, BY ESTABLISHING THE TAXICAB RATES HEREIN-
AFTER SET FORTH; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PRO-
VIDING FOR PUBLICATION.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 57, VEHICLES FOR HIRE, Corpus Christi
City Code, be amended by repealing Section 57-135. Fares -- Amounts and in
lieu thereof adopting new provisions for said Section 57-135, by establishing
the taxicab rates hereinafter set forth:
"Section 57-135 Fares -- Amounts.
There is hereby established as the rates of fare for taxicabs
within the City limits of the City of Corpus Christi for one or more
persons, not exceeding five persons, of eighty-five cents (85O) for
the first one-fourth (1/4) of a mile or less, and twenty cents (200)
additional for each succeeding one-fourth (1/4) of a mile or fraction
thereof.
For each one hour of wilting time, the maximum charge shall be
eight dollars ($8.00), accumulated in time increments of three minutes
or less."
SECTION 2. All ordinances fixing rates for taxicab heretofore in
existence are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or
unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intention of this
City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word
or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its, purpose.
SECTION 4. Publication shall be made one time by publishing in
the official newspaper of the City of Corpus Christi the caption of this ordi-
nance stating in substance the purpose of the aforesaid ordinance.
