WHEREAS, the Honorable Gabe Lozano, Sr. is this day terminating
his tenure as Mayor of the City of. Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, Gabe Lozano, Sr. has, for fourteen years on the Corpus
Christi City Council, tirelessly devoted himself to the discharge of the
duties of his office wi4 dignity, kindness and unselfish devotion, which
has resulted in the improvement of this City and the fostering of plans
and projects which will contribute to the life and happiness of its
citizens and its visitors; and
WHEREAS, his devotion to duty and civic projects for so many
years before becoming Mayor of the City, and continuing with the unselfish
devotion to the responsibilities of his office, reinforced with the
public's realization of his personal integrity and judgment, has inspired
a public confidence in municipal government which will be effective for a
long time in the future and should merit the continued appreciation of the
public:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; That we, as the governing body of the City of
Corpus Christi and representatives of its citizens, do hereby express the
appreciation of this City and all of its citizens to Gabe Lozano, Sr. on
this occasion of his retirement from the official duties as Mayor of the
City but continuing his activities as a civic leader in the City;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as a continuing expression of
gratitude for the services and devotion of Gabe Lozano, Sr. to the City
of Corpus Christi, and the general public opinion that the City will always
recognize his dedicated service during his tenure as Mayor., Gabe Lozano, Sr.
is hereby appointed to the position of MAYOR EMERITUS of the City of Corpus
and with the sincere appreciation of all of the people of Corpus Christi,
we hereby publicly express our gratitude and wish him well;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be
furnished to Mayor Emeritus Gabe Lozano, Sr.
