HomeMy WebLinkAbout14884 ORD - 05/09/1979• JKH:hb:5/7/79 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ASPHALT PAVING & CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE PURDUE ROAD STORM SEWER IM- PROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING $174,000 OUT OF THE NO. 295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND, OF WHICH $163,596.25 IS FOR CONSTRUCTION AND $10,403.75 IS FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING, LEGAL ADVERTISING, INCIDENTAL AND CONTINGENCY EXPENSES, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 295-77-3, PURDUE ROAD FROM EDMUNDSON TO WALDRON ROAD STORM SEWER EXTENSIONS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Asphalt Paving & Construction Company for con- struction of the Purdue Road Storm Sewer Improvements, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Asphalt Paving & Construction Company, opened on the 18th day of April, 1979, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $174,000 out of the No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund, of which $163,596.25 is for construction and $10,403.75 is for additional engineering, legal advertising, incidental and contingency expenses applicable to Project No. 295-77-3, Purdue Road from Edmundson to Waldron Road, storm sewer extensions. SECTION 3. That the necessity to authorize execution of the aforesaid contract and provide the necessary funds in order to accomplish the aforesaid improvements creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of 14884 J U L 091980 • its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 9 day of May, 1979.
