AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT
NO. 1 TO FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION GRANT AGREE-
MENT FOR PROJECT 6-48-0051-06, TO ADD THE INSTALLATION
OF PRECISION INSTRUMENT RUNWAY MARKINGS TO RUNWAY 17-35
TO THE PROJECT, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE
AMENDMENT, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO
AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBIT "A"; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute Amendment No. 1 to Federal Aviation Administration Grant Agreement
for Project No. 6-48-0051-06, to add the installation of precision instru-
ment runway markings to Runway 17-35 to the project, all as more fully set
forth in the amendment, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and
made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A".
SECTION 2. The necessity to execute the aforesaid amendment at
the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordi-
nance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction
but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and
necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the g day of May, 1979.

AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO GRANT AGREEMENT FOR PROJECT NO. 6-48-0051-06
WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration (hereinafter referred
to as the "FAA") has determined it to be in the interest of the
United States that the Grant Agreement between the FAA, acting for
and on behalf of the United States, and the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, (hereinafter referred to as the "Sponsor"), accepted by
said Sponsor on the 19th day of September 1978, be amended as
hereinafter provided.
NOW THEREFORE, WITNESSETH:
That in consideration of the benefits to accrue to the parties
hereto, the FAA on behalf of the United States, on the one part,
and the Sponsor, on the other part, do hereby mutually agree that
the said Grant Agreement shall be and hereby is amended to revise
the project work description shown on page 1 to read as follows:
Reconstruct and overlay air carrier ramp (approx.
35,000 S.Y.); reconstruct and expand access road;
reconstruct portion of terminal loop road; construct
turnaround for fuel farm; install security gates;
construct terminal concourse security wall; install
precision instrument runway (Rwy 17-35) marking.
No other provisions of the aforesaid Grant Agreement are changed
by this Amendment.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this Amendment
to said Grant Agreement to be duly executed as of the day
of , 1979.

of the Airport and Airway Development Act of 1970, as amended.
I, acting as Attorney for the above named Sponsor, do hereby
certify that I have examined the foregoing Grant Agreement and the
proceedings taken by said Sponsor relating thereto, and find that
the acceptance thereof by said Sponsor has been duly authorized
and that the execution thereof is in all respects due and proper
and in accordance with the laws of this State, and further that,
in my opinion, said Grant Agreement constitutes a legal and binding
obligation of the Sponsor in accordance with the terms thereof.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
