HomeMy WebLinkAbout14900 ORD - 05/09/1979jkh:5-8-79;1st 111/1 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A COMPREHENSIVE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING ACT TITLE VI CONTRACT MODIFICA- TION WITH THE CORPUS CHRISTI STATE SCHOOL TO AUTHORIZE AN ADDITIONAL 89 PUBLIC SERVICE -POSITIONS THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 1979, AND TO INCREASE THE CURRENT CONTRACT AMOUNT FROM $160,000 TO A NEW LEVEL OF $495,000, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET OUT IN SAID CONTRACT MODIFICATION, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBIT "A"; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a Comprehensive Employment and Training Act Title VI contract modification with the Corpus Christi State School to authorize an additional 89 public service positions through September 30, 1979, and to increase the current contract amount from $160,000 to a new level of $495,000, all as more fully set out in said contract modification, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A". SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize execution of the afore- said contract modification at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule and that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally full force and ORDAINED, this ATTEST: on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO the q day of May, 1979.
