TEXAS:
AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TEN TWO-WAY RADIOS
FOR TRANSIT BUSES FROM THE GENERAL ELECTRIC
COMPANY AS PROVIDED IN THE 1978 UMTA CAPITAL
GRANT PROJECT NO. TX -05-0036 FOR $11,590; APPRO-
PRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 218 TRANSIT BOND FUND FOR
PROJECT 218-72-4, TRANSIT SYSTEM CAPITAL IMPROVE-
MENTS (1978), $13,840, OF WHICH $11,590 IS AUTHOR-
IZED FOR PURCHASE OF SAID RADIOS AND $2,250 IS
AUTHORIZED FOR INSTALLATION; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,

SECTION 1. That authorization is hereby given for purchase of
ten two-way radios for transit buses from the General Electric Company for
$11,590 as provided for in the 1978 UMTA Capital Grant Project No. TX -05-0036.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 218
Transit Bond Fund for Project No. 218-72-4, Transit System Capital Improvements
(1978), the amount of $13,840, of which $11,590 is for the purchase of said
two-way radios, and $2,250 is for installation.
SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the contract and to provide
the necessary funds for the acquisition and installation of the two-way radios
creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor
having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested
the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
