A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Leslie L. Chappell, a long-time resident of the City of
Corpus Christi, was on May 21, 1979, called to his eternal rest;.and
WHEREAS, among his many accomplishments Leslie "Les" L. Chappell
will be remembered for his untiring work with the Lions Club International,
ranging from his work as a charter member of the Southside Lions Club in
Corpus Christi, to service as President of the local organization and later
District Governor, and for his recognition by Lions International as recipient
of the Lions "Key of Nations Award"in 1973; and in 1977, in recognition of
his dedication, he was honored with a life membership in the Southside
Lions Club; and
WHEREAS, Leslie Chappell was also an active member in the Lions
Eye Bank Association and served in numerous official capacities; and
WHEREAS, the passing of this outstanding citizen and long-time
Nueces County employee is

NOW, THEREFORE,
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That this brief record of the many accomplishments of
Leslie L. Chappell be recalled and that the citizens of this community
join in mourning the loss of this valuable citizen.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded
to the family of Leslie L. Chappell.
PASSED AND APPROVED, this the 23rd day of May, 1979.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
