A RESOLUTION
DESIGNATING MAYOR LUTHER JONES AS THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS' DIRECTOR -AT -LARGE TO THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE PURSUANT TO
ART. IV, SECTION 4.1(2) OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE
TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE AND DIRECTING THE CITY SECRETARY
TO CERTIFY SAID DESIGNATION TO TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE
BY FORWARDING TO THE LEAGUE A CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS
RESOLUTION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Honorable Luther Jones, Mayor of the City
of Corpus Christi be, and he is hereby, designated to serve as the City's
director -at -large to the Board of Directors of the Texas Municipal League
pursuant to Article IV, Section 4.1(2) of the Constitution of the Texas
Municipal League.
SECTION 2. That the City Secretary is directed to certify the
designation of the Honorable Luther Jones as the City's director -at -large
to the Texas Municipal League by forwarding a certified copy of this resolu-
tion to the Texas Municipal League at its office in Austin, Texas.
SECTION 3. The necessity to immediately designate the City's
director -at -large to the Texas Municipal League creates a public emergency
and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of
its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such
emergency and necessity exist, having requested that such Charter rule be
suspended and that this resolution be passed finally on the date of its intro-
duction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the

For the reasons set forth,in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
