AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 8127, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING
SECTION 950, LEAVES OF ABSENCE, BY AMENDING SUBSECTIONS
951.6 AND 952.3 TO PROVIDE THAT ACCRUED VACATION AND
SICK LEAVE SHALL BE PAID TO EMPLOYEES TERMINATING AT
AGE 62 OR OVER UPON COMPLETION OF A MINIMUM OF 10 YEARS
CONTINUOUS SERVICE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance 8127, as amended, be and the same is
hereby amended by amending Section 950, Leaves of Absence, Subsection 951,
Vacation Leave, by amending Subsection 951.6 so as to hereafter read as
follows:
"951.6 No vacation credit shall be granted or paid at
termination unless the employee has been employed for a
period of time in excess of 6 months. No more than 30
working days of vacation shall be paid an employee upon
termination except as provided below: All accrued vaca-
tion shall be paid to employees or their beneficiaries
upon termination due to TMRS retirement of any full-time
employee, termination at age 62 or over upon completion
of a minimum of 10 years continuous service with the
City, disability retirement in accordance with TMRS or
Social Security regulations, or death."
SECTION 2. That said ordinance, as amended, be and is hereby
amended by amending Section 950, Leaves of Absence, Subsection 952, Sick Leave,
by amending Subsection 952.3 so as to hereafter read as follows:
"952.3 Payment of accrued sick leave not to exceed 90
working days shall be paid to employees or their benefi-
ciaries upon termination due to TMRS retirement of any
full-time employee, termination at age 62 or over upon
completion of a minimum of 10 years continuous service
with the City, disability retirement in accordance with
TMRS or Social Security regulations, or death. Paym

SECTION 3. The above changes shall be effective immediately.

SECTION 4. That the necessity to amend'Ordinance No. 8127 at
the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordi-
nance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction
but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and
necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and
that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT
IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the a5 day of July, 1979.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no_ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three mcetlflbs of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
