AMENDING THE 1978-79 BUDGET OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI BY CANCELING $179,082 OF THE ORIGINAL
$3,779,356 APPROPRIATION FROM THE REVENUE SHARING
FUND TO THE GENERAL FUND; CANCELING $179,082 OF
THE ORIGINAL $309,082 APPROPRIATION FROM THE GENERAL
FUND TO THE TRANSIT FUND; APPROPRIATING $179,082
FROM THE REVENUE SHARING FUND TO THE TRANSIT FUND
TO MATCH A SECTION 5 OPERATING ASSISTANCE FEDERAL
GRANT REQUEST OF $642,051 FROM THE URBAN MASS
TRANSPORTATION ADMINISTRATION; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the 1978-79 Budget of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, adopted by ordinance no. 14415, be amended by canceling $179,082 of the
original $3,779,356 appropriation from the Revenue Sharing Fund to the General
Fund; canceling $179,082 of the original $309,082 appropriation from the General
Fund to the Transit Fund; and appropriating $179,082 from the Revenue Sharing
Fund to the Transit Fund to match a Section 5 Operating Assistance grant request
of $642,051 from the Urban Mass Transportation Administration.
SECTION 2. The necessity to cancel appropriations and to appropriate
the sums hereinabove set forth in order to provide local matching funds with those
funds requested through a federal grant creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,
and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having
requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the
day of July, 1979.
