HomeMy WebLinkAbout15036 RES - 08/01/1979jkh:7-31-79;lst A RESOLUTION a AUTHORIZING THE DEPOSIT OF INTEREST EARNED ON BOND CONSTRUCTION FUNDS TO THE CREDIT OF EACH BOND CONSTRUC- TION FUND; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the cost of constructing public buildings and facilities financed from approved bond programs has increased since the voters approved these bond programs; and WHEREAS, the completion of various public buildings and facilities as originally planned may not be possible within available funds; and WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to complete said public buildings and facilities without increasing taxes: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; SECTION 1. That all interest earned on voter approved bond construction funds be deposited in each bond construction fund in which the interest is earned for the purpose of increasing the funds available for each project. SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize deposit of interest earned on bond construction funds to the credit of each bond construction fund at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction but that such ordinance or resolutiob shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the / day of August, 1979.
