AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI ADOPTED ON THE 27TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1937,
APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 9, PAGES 565, ET SEQ,
OF THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS, AS AMENDED
FROM TIME TO TIME AND PARTICULARLY AS AMENDED BY
ORDINANCE NO. 6106, AS AMENDED, UPON APPLICATION OF
JOHN 0. HAMMONS BY
AMENDING THE ZONING MAP BY CHANGING THE ZONING ON
5.32+ ACRES OF LAND. BEING A PORTION OF SHARE "A" of
THE THE ESTATF OF MRS_ MARY mrRRi
SITUATEDITION IN THEFCITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECESFCOUNTY,
TEXAS, FROM "I-3" HEAVY INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT
TO "B-4" GENERAL BUSINESS DISTRICT
; KEEPING IN EFFECT ALL OTHER PROVISIONS
OF THE EXISTING ORDINANCE AS AMENDED; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has forwarded to the City Council
its reports and recommendations concerning the application of
John Q. Hanxnons for amendment to the zoning map of
the City of Corpus Christi;
WHEREAS, public hearing was held at which hearing all persons
wishing to appear and be heard were heard, to consider the same before the
City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, in accordance with proper notice
to the public, said public hearing having been held on
August 22, 1979
, at Regular Council Meeting of the
City Council in the Council Chamber at City Hall in the City of Corpus Christi;
and
WHEREAS, by motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was decided
by the City Council that to approve the hereinafter set forth amendment would
best serve public health, necessity and convenience and the general welfare
of the City of Corpus Christi and its citizens:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, passed on the 27th day of August, 1937, appearing of record
in Volume 9, Pages .565, et seq, of the Ordinance and Resolution Records, as
amended from time to time, and in particular as amended by Ordinance No. 6106,
as amended, be and the same is hereby amended by making the change hereinafter
set out.

SECTION 2. That the zoning of 5.32+ acres of land, being a portion
of Share "A" of the Partition of the Estate of Mrs. Mary McBride, situated in
the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, more particularly described
hereinafter, be and the same is hereby changed from "I-3" Heavy Industrial
District to "B-4" General Business District:
Beginning at a point in the easterly right-of-way line of North Padre Island Drive, said
point being also the northwest corner of Lot 25 - A, Block 2, Lantana Industrial Area as
recorded in Volume 30, Page 18, Map Records of Nueces County, Texas.
Thence; in a northerly direction with the east right-of-way line of North Padre Iskind
Drive, a curve to the left having a radius of 5898 .25,a centralangle of 00 24' 04", a distance
of 41 .3 feet to.the end of said curve and the beginning of a curve to the right;
Thence; along said right-of-way, a curve to the right, having a radius of 1513.16 feet,
a central angle of 7° 29' 56", a distance of 198.04 feet to the end of said curve and the
beginning of a curve to the left;
Thence; continuing along said right-of-way;a curve to the left, having a radius of 715.95
feet, a central angle of 9° 01' f.0" , a distance of 112.84 feet to the end of said curve;
Thence; N 10 04' E, along said right-of-way line, a distance of 35 .96 feet to the northwest
corner of this tract;
Thence; S 88° 32' 10" E, along the south line of Ebony Acres, a distance of 600.00 feet to
the northeast corner of this tract;
Thence; S 1° 25' 11" )N, a distance of 377.07 fei:t to the southeast corner of this tract;
Thence;' West with the north line of Lot :5 - A, Block 2, Lantana Industrial Area, a distance
of 124.30 feet to the east line of Lot 11-B, Lantana Industrial Area, as recorded in Volume 40,
Page 10, Nap Records of Nueces County, Texas;.
Thence; north along the east line of Lot 11 - B, a distance of 5.68 feet to the northeast corner
of said lot;
Thence; West, along the north line of Lcts 11 - B and 25 - A, Block 2, Lantana industrial Area,
in all a distance of 495.70 feet to the place of beginning and containing 5 .32 acres of land,
rnore or less.
SECTION 3. That the official zoning map of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 4. That the Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, approved on the 27th day of August, 1937, as amended from time
to time, except as herein changed, shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 6. That the necessity of immediately making aforesaid
change for the purpose of maintaining at all times a comprehensive zoning
ordinance for the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and an
imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that
no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro-
duction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency
and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 22 -day of August, 1979.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass.this ordinance finally on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
