HomeMy WebLinkAbout15130 ORD - 09/19/1979AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH KING CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION OF IMPROVE- MENTS TO THE ACCESS TO OLDER NEIGHBORHOODS; APPROPRIATING $215,000 OUT OF THE N0. 220 STREET BOND FUND, OF WHICH $195,942.85 IS FOR CONSTRUCTION AND $19,057.15 IS FOR ADDI- TIONAL ENGINEERING, LABORATORY TESTING, INCIDENTAL AND CON- TINGENCY EXPENSES, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220-77-17, ACCESS TO OLDER NEIGHBORHOODS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be hereby authorized to execute a contract with King Construction Company, Inc. for construction of improve- ments to the Access to Older Neighborhoods, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and acco ing to the bid of King Construction Company, Inc., opened on August 1, 1975 said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $215,000 out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund, of which $195,942.85 is for construction and $19,057.15 is for additional engineering, laboratory testing, incidental and contingency expenses, applicable to Project No. 220-77-17, Access to Older Neighborhoods. • SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums set forth so that construction of improvements to the Access to Older Neighborhoods may be commenced at the earliest practi- cable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity re- quiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordin- ance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and hav- ing requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, 7,10 e 0 0- 1513© this the /7 day ATTEST: i y Secret �� APPROVED: /8 DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1979: 3.
