HomeMy WebLinkAbout15179 ORD - 10/17/1979vp:10/16/79:1st AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A GROUP LIFE AND HEALTH INSURANCE CONTRACT WITH BLUE CROSS/BLUE SHIELD OF TEXAS FOR THE CONTRACT PERIOD BEGINNING NOVEMBER 1, 1979 THROUGH OCTOBER 31, 1980; AND DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a group life'and health insurance contract for the City of Corpus Christi with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas for the contract period beginning November 1, 1979 through October 31, 1980. SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize execution of the aforesaid contract at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance oi' resolution shall be passed finally on the date of, its intro- duction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY,,S0 ORDAINED, this the /7 day of October, 1979.
