HomeMy WebLinkAbout15180 ORD - 10/17/1979vp:10/16/79:1st AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE A SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT FOR $10,300.00 FROM THE ACTION AGENCY, FOR THE PURCHASE OF A NEW VAN FOR THE RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM (RSVP), SUCH FUNDING TO AUGMENT THE PRESENT GRANT (4/1/79- 3/31/80), DEMONSTRATED IN A BUDGET AMENDMENT, TOTAL- ING $58,903, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH GRANT IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBIT "A"; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to approve a supplemental grant for $10,300.00 from the Action Agency, for the purchase of a new van for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), such funding to augment the present grant (4/1/79-3/31/80), demonstrated in a budget amendment, totaling $58,903, a substantial copy of which grant is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A". SECTION 2.. That the necessity to authorize approval of a supple- mental grant as aforesaid creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity 'exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the /7 day of October, 1979.
