HomeMy WebLinkAbout15206 ORD - 10/31/1979jkh:10-31-79;1st AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY FOR $8,288 TO PURCHASE VIDEO-TAPING EQUIPMENT TO RECORD INTOXICATED DRIVER SUSPECTS PRIOR TO BOOKING TO AID IN THE PROSECUTION OF DWI CASES, AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF ALL DOCU- MENTS NECESSARY TO ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF IT IS APPROVED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That authorization is hereby given for submission of a grant application to the Office of Traffic Safety for $8,288 to purchase video-taping equipment to record intoxicated driver suspects prior to booking to aid in the prosecution of DWI cases, and authorization is hereby further given for execution of all documents necessary to accept the aforesaid grnt, if and when it is approved. • ' SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize submission of the aforesaid grant'application and to authorize execution of all documents necessary to ' accept the grant, if and when it is approved, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension ofthe Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and • .after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the' 3) day of , 1979.
