HomeMy WebLinkAbout15222 ORD - 11/14/1979nh:11-12-79:1st AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ISLES CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC. FOR INSTALLATION OF WATER LINES IN VARIOUS AREAS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; APPROPRIATING $340,000 OUT OF THE NO. 162 FEDERAL/STATES GRANT FUND, ACTIVITY 4741, CODE 502, OF WHICH $308,521.25 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, $18,000 IS FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING INCLUDING INSPECTION, AND $13,478.75 IS FOR LABORATORY TESTING, CHANGE ORDERS, CONTINGENCIES AND RELATED EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a contract with Isles Construction Company, Inc. for installation of water lines in various areas of the City of Corpus Christi, all as more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and accord- ing to the bid of Isles Construction Company, Inc., opened on the 7th day of November, 1979, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 162 Federal/States Grant Fund, Activity 4741, Code 502, the sum of $340,000, of which amount $308,521.25 is for the construction contract; $18,000 is for additional engineering, including inspection; and $13,478.75 is for laboratory testing, change orders, contingencies and related expenses. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set forth so that construction may be com- menced at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, - 15222 IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the /`/day of November, 1979.
