AN ORDINANCE'
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH
BEECROFT AND WILLIAMSON, INC. FOR VARIOUS IMPROVEMENTS
TO THE CORPUS CHRISTI COLISEUM; APPROPRIATING $278,112
OF WHICH $254,051 IS OUT OF THE NO. 261 COLISEUM BOND
FUND, $11,074 IS ANTICIPATED INTEREST IN INVESTED BONDS,
$9,050 IS OUT OF THE NO. 102 GENERAL FUND RESERVE ACCOUNT
NO. 4299, CODE 490 (WHICH I5 HEREBY APPROPRIATED AND TRANS-
FERRED INTO THE NO. 261 COLISEUM BOND FUND), AND $3,937 IS
FROM THE BUCCANEER COMMISSION OF WHICH TOTAL APPROPRIATION
$265,054 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, $13,058 IS FOR
ADDITIONAL ARCHITECTURAL FEES PAYABLE TO BROCK, MABREY &
ASSOCIATES, INCIDENTAL AND RELATED EXPENSES, APPLICABLE TO
PROJECT NO. 261-77-1, COLISEUM IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING
AND EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a con-
tract with Beecroft and Williamson, Inc., for various improvements to the
Corpus Christi Coliseum, all as more fully set forth in the plans and speci-
fications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary,
all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of
Beecroft and Williamson, Inc., opened on the 24th day of October, 1979, said
bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $278,112 of
which $254,051 is out of the No. 261 Coliseum Bond Fund, $11,074 is anticipated
interest on invested bonds, $9,050 is out of the No. 102 General Fund Reserve
Account No. 4299, Code 490 (which is hereby appropriated and transferred into
the No. 261 Coliseum Bond Fund), and $3,937 is from the Buccaneer Commission of
which total appropriation $265,054 is for the construction contract, $13,058 is
for additional architectural fees payable to Brock, Mabrey & Associates, inci-
dental and related expenses, applicable to Project No. 261-77-1, Coliseum
Improvements.
SECTION 3. That the necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and
to appropriate the sums hereinabove so that the various improvements may be
made to the Corpus Christi Coliseum at the earliest practicable date creates a
public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of
the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the
date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that

such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of
the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its
introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after
its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY 50 ORDAINED, this the / day of November,
1979.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
