HomeMy WebLinkAbout15254 ORD - 12/05/1979nh:12-5-79:1st AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 TO THE CONTRACT WITH PPG INDUSTRIES FOR SECURITY IMPROVE- MENTS TO THE CONCOURSE AREA AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTER- NATIONAL AIRPORT, SAID CHANGE ORDER PROVIDING FOR CONSTRUC- TION OF WIND BUFFERS AND AIR LOCKS AT THE TICKET LOBBY ENTRANCE OF THE AIRPORT, AS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE CHANGE 'ORDER, A SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO, MARKED EXHIBIT "A", AND MADE A PART HEREOF; APPRO- PRIATING $13,678 OUT OF THE NO. 245 AIRPORT BOND FUND, \OF WHICH $11,678 IS FOR CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 TO THE CONTRACT WITH PPG INDUSTRIES AND $2,000 IS FOR ADDITIONAL ARCHITEC- TURAL FEES FOR DESIGN AND INSPECTION, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 245-77-4.1, SECURITY SCREENING/CONCOURSE RENOVATION/ WIND BUFFERS AND AIR LOCKS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. 1 BE IT ORDAINED ,BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute Change Order No. 1 to the contract with PPG Industries for security improvements to the concourse area at the Corpus Christi International Airport, said change order to provide for construction of wind buffers and air locks at the ticket lobby entrance of the Airport, all as more fully described in the change order, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A". SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $13,678 out of the No. 245 Airport Bond Fund, of which sum $11,678 is for Change Order No. 1 to the contract with PPG Industries and $2,000 is for additional architectural fees for design and inspection, applicable to Project No. 245-77-4.1, Security Screening/Concourse Renovation/Wind Buffers and Air Locks. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize execution of the aforesaid change order and to appropriate the surns described in order to accomplish the construction of the improvements at the Corpus Christi International Airport.creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity re- quiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordin- ance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in fuR9, 15251 iv 1,36 s: 9 force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the J~ day of December, 1979. BRUCE AYCOCK, CITY ATTORNEY MAYOR _TN CITY CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS AMEIDMENT NO. 3 TO THE CONTRACT FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES The City of Corpus Christi and Cotten/Landreth Architects agree to the following amendment to the contract for architectural services regarding the modification and expansion of the terminal building of the Corpus Christi Interna- tional Airport which was authorized by the Corpus Christi City Council on May 10, 1978 by the passage of Ordinance No. 14308: Cotten/Landreth Architects agree to prepare plans and specifications for the wind buffers/air locks at the ticket lobby entrance for a fixed fee amount of $1,200.00 to be paid upon delivery of plans and specifications to the City of Corpus Christi. Cotten/Landreth Architects agree to perform the resident inspection services for the wind buffers/air locks at the ticket lobby entrance during the construction phase as outlined below. 1. Check shop and working drawings as required and furnished by the contractor. 2. Consult with and advise the City during construction. 3. Generally observe the work and interpret the plans and specifications by periodic visits (as distinguished from the continuous services of a resident project representative) to the site by a qualified inspector. In performing these services, the Architect will endeavor to protect the City against defects and deficiencies in the work of the contractor, but he cannot guarantee the performance of the contractor, nor be responsible for the actual supervision of construction operations or for the safety measures that the contractor takes or should take. 4. Prepare monthly and final estimates for payments to the contractor, based on the contractor's submittal. 5. Perform the final inspection. 6. Revise the construction drawings to show the project as actually constructed. -1- L- ft `A" The Architect further agrees to perform the above services for a fee of $800.00 to be paid in a lump sum upon completion of the construction.
