AMENDING SECTION IV, PARAGRAPH C. EASEMENTS, SUBPARAGRAPH
1, SO AS TO LIMIT THE WIDTH OF UTILITY EASEMENTS ALONG
AND PARALLEL TO DRAINAGE RIGHTS-OF-WAY TO TEN (10) FEET;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section IV DESIGN STANDARDS of the Platting Ordi-
nance of the City of Corpus Christi be amended by amending paragraph C. EASEMENTS,
subparagraph 1, by adding the words, "except along and parallel with a drain-
age right-of-way such utility easements shall not exceed ten ('1Q) feet in
width," said subparagraph to hereafter read as follows:
"1. Easements across lots or centered on rear or side lot lines
shall be provided for utilities where necessary and shall be at least ten
(10) feet wide, except along and parallel with a drainage right-of-way
such utilities easements shall not exceed ten (10) feet in width."
SECTION 2. The necessity to limit the width of utility easements
along and parallel to drainage rights-of-way as aforesaid and to accordingly
amend the Platting Ordinance at the earliest practicable date creates a public
emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date of its introduction but such ordinance or resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a
public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend
said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally,on the date it
is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
