AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 18559 BY AMENDING SECTION 3 IN ORDER
TO ADOPT THE FINAL ASSESSMENT ROLL FOR STREET IMPROVEMENTS
ON THE FOLLOWING STREETS:
George Evans School Area, Phase II
1. Howard and Mestina Streets, from Sam Rankin Street to
Brownlee Boulevard,
2. Sam Rankin Street, from Caldwell Street to Comanche
Street, and
3. Josephine and Mexico Streets, from Caldwell Street to
I.H. 37 Access Road (Antelope Street).
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 18559, passed and approved November 20,
1984, be amended by amending Section 3 so as to adopt the final assessment roll
and assessments levied against owners of abutting property on the following
streets:
George Evans School Area, Phase II
1. Howard and Mestina Streets, from Sam Rankin Street to
Brownlee Boulevard,
2. Sam Rankin Street, from Caldwell Street to Comanche
Street, and
3. Josephine and Mexico Streets, from Caldwell Street to
I.H. 37 Access Road (Antelope Street).
a substantial copy of which assessment role is attached hereto and made a part
hereof, marked Exhibit "A".
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
efficient and effective administration of City affairs by the adoption of the
final, corrected assessment roll as aforesaid, such finding of an emergency is
made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration
and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this
ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency
measure this the 17th day of September, 1985.

STREET IMPROVEMENTS

The George Evans School Area, Phase II street improvements shall include improve-
ments to the following streets:
George Evans School Area, Phase II
1. Howard and Mestina Streets, from Sam Rankin Street to Brownlee
Boulevard,
2. Sam Rankin Street, from Caldwell Street to Comanche Street, and
3. Josephine and Mexico Streets, from Caldwell Street to I.H. 37
Access Road (Antelope Street).
These streets shall be constructed by excavation to a width and depth to permit
the laying of a 6" standard curb and gutter section, 6" compacted subgrade, 10"
compacted caliche base and 2" Type "D" Hot Mix asphaltic pavement. The street
will be 40 feet in width measured from the back of curb and constructed within the
existing right-of-way. There will be 4' or 5' wide reinforced concrete sidewalks
4" thick and 6" thick reinforced concrete driveways as shown on the plans.
The assessment rates have been calculated in accordance with the City's latest
paving policy. Based on this policy and the low bid prices submitted by Claude
Chapman Construction Co., Inc., the assessment rates are as follows:
