HomeMy WebLinkAbout020869 RES - 01/23/1990A RESOLUTION DECLARING A POLICY THAT THE CITY COUNCIL WILL NOT IMPOSE ANY REINVESTMENT ZONES AGAINST THE WISHES OF ANY OF THE OTHER TAXING ENTITIES, FORCING THEM INTO A REINVESTMENT ZONE. WHEREAS, the 71st Legislature enacted certain changes to state laws affecting Tax Incremental Financing Reinvestment Zones, and these changes were applicable statewide with the exception of the cities of El Paso and Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, other taxing entities within Corpus Christi, have requested reconsideration of the exception to the changes in state laws affecting reinvestment zones. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City may establish reinvestment zones as deemed necessary; however, the other taxing entities that collect taxes in that zone shall have the option to participate or not participate. Participation shall be self determined by the individual taxing entities at the time the zone is established.
