AMENDING THE C11Y CODE, CHAPIER 55, UTILITIES,
SECTION 55-146, ABNORMAL SEWAGE SURCHARGE, SUB-
SECTION (H), SO AS TO PROVIDE CERTAIN INCREASES
IN WASTEWATER RATES; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECIIVE
DATE; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL (1£ ALL ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR SEVLRANCL; AND PROVIDING
FOR PUBLICATION.

CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Code, Chapter 55, Utilities,
Section 55-146, Abnormal Sewage Surcharge, subsection (h) is hereby
amended by repealing said subsection in its entirety and substituting
a new subsection (h) therefor Lo read as follows:
S= V x 8.34 x Y x (BOD - 250)
5- V x 8.34 x Z x (ISS - 250)
5 = Surcharge in dollars for the billing period.
V = Water consumption in millions of gallons during the
billing period.
8.54 = Weight of water in pounds per gallon.
Y = Unit charge in dollars per pound for 80D.
7_ = Unit charge in dollars per pound for total suspended
solids.
BOD Five-day biochemical oxygen demand strength index in
parts per million by weight.
ISS Total suspended solids strength index in parts per
million by weight.
250 = Normal BOD and I55 ;LrengLh in ports per million by
weight.
SECTION 2. The values of "Y" (unit charge in dollars per
pound for BOD) and "Z" (unit charge in dollars per pound for TS5)
in Section 1 of this ordinance shall be as follows:

Y = $0.0533/10.
Z = $0.0692/1b.
(B) Effective September 1, 1990 for September 1990 wastewater
service (October Billing)
Y = $0.0746/ib.
Z = $0.0968/lb.
(0) Effective March 1, 1991 For March 1991 wastewater service
(April Billing)
Y r $0.0962/1b.
Z = $0.0979/1b.
(D) Effective September 1, 1991 for September 1991 wastewater
service (October Billing)
Y = $0.117B/1b.
Z = $0.0990/lb.
(E) Effective March 1, 1992 for March 1992 wastewater service
(April Billing)
Y = $0.1394/1b.
Z = $0.1001/1b.
SECTION 3. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of
such conflict.
SECTION 4. Lf for any reason any section, paragraph, sub—
division, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be
held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of
competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph,
subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it
is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph,
subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force
and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 5. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption of
this ordinance slating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.
