Commemorating the Life of
Ken David Riley
WHEREAS, Ken David Riley was a well-respected businessman,
husband, and father; and
WHEREAS, he enjoyed the respect of family, friends, and the
community; and
WHEREAS, he was raised near Houston, but moved to Corpus
Christi in 1966; and
WHEREAS, he served the City of Corpus Christi well with
distinction and dedication in the Texas House of Representatives
as Representative for District 36, from 1980 until 1982; and
WHEREAS, in serving this area he was a member of the
important Ways and Means Committee; and
WHEREAS, the Speaker of the Texas House appointed him to
serve this area on the Committee to Study the Development of
Texas Beaches, a most important study; and
WHEREAS, he was active in his business, The Safeguard
System, Inc., a private security industry; and
WHEREAS, he served as President of the Texas Burglar and
Fire Alarm Association from 1987 to 1988; and
WHEREAS, Ken David Riley passed from this life on April 16,
1990, after a short illness at the early age of 43.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI:
That the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi for and
on behalf of the citizens of this City commemorates the life of
Ken David Riley. He will be missed by all who knew and worked
with him and our lives are enriched for having known him. The
City expresses its condolences to his family and to his friends.
The City Secretary is directed to provide his family with an
official copy of this Resolution commemorating Ken David Riley.
