HomeMy WebLinkAbout020912 RES - 04/24/1990A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, increased cooperation between different units of local government and the consolidation of governmental services can reduce the costs borne by local governments and save taxpayer dollars; and WHEREAS, units of local government are authorized under the Texas Interlocal Cooperation Act, Article 4413(32c), Vernons's Annotated Texas Statutes, to enter into cooperative agreements for the performance of services such as purchasing goods and services, emergency medical services, the joint use of facilities, tax collections, data processing, and the like; and WHEREAS, cooperation with completed a feas covering the four emergency medical collections; the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce in 20 governmental entities in Nueces County has ibility study on Inter -Governmental Cooperation service areas of purchasing goods and services, services, joint use of facilities and property tax WHEREAS, the undersigned City of Corpus Christi has received the study and is interested in continuing in the implementation of various ways to increase the overall efficiency of government in Nueces County as recommended in the study; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi elects to continue to participate in the inter -governmental cooperation project being coordinated by the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce and implement the recommendations provided in the study. SECTION 2. That the City of Corpus Christi endorses the concept of a cooperative purchasing program and designates the City Manager or his designee as the person to represent the City to serve on the Cooperative Purchasing Committee organized by the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce. SECTION 3. That the City of Corpus Christi supports the general concept of a county -wide emergency medical services system and designates the City Manager or his designee as the person to represent the City to serve on a special regional EMS task force to further study the implementation and funding of emergency medical services in Nueces County. SECTION 4. That the City of Corpus Christi agrees to develop a list of its facilities which can be made available to other governmental entities in Nueces County on an exchange or barter basis \ORD-RES\90043 MICROFILMED similar to the agreement recently made by the City of Corpus Christi and Corpus Christi Independent School District.
