DESIGNATING THE POSITION OF THE CITY SECRETARY AS THE
RECORDS MANAGEMENT OFFICER FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A
RECORDS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AS
REQUIRED BY THE TEXAS LOCAL GOVERNMENT RECORDS ACT.
WHEREAS, Title 6, Subtitle C, Local Government Code (Local
Government Records Act) provides that each local government must
designate a records management officer on or before June 1, 1990;
WHEREAS, the records management office shall be responsible
for the establishment, development, and administration of policies and
procedures for the custodians of public records of the City of Corpus
Christi;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the position of City Secretary is
designated as the Records Management Officer for the City of Corpus
Christi in accordance with the Local Government Records Act;
SECTION 2. That the Records Management Officer is
authorized to develop such guidelines and procedures for the
administration of a records management program for review and approval
by ordinance or order of the City Council on or before January 1,
1991.
SECTION 3. That the Records Management Officer file with
the Texas State Library and Archives Commission such reports as are
required by the Local Government Records Act.
