HomeMy WebLinkAbout020941 RES - 07/10/1990A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE COMMITMENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL NOT TO USE THE ONE-HALF CENT SALES TAX FOR REOPENING PACKERY CHANNEL. WHEREAS, the Development Corporation Act of 1979, art. 5190.6, V.A.C.S., authorizes the collection of a one-half (1/2) cent sales and use tax for economic development upon vote of the people; and WHEREAS, the City Council has called an election on August 11, 1990, for the citizens to determine whether to impose such sales tax or not; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That in the event the citizens of the City of Corpus Christi vote to impose the one-half (1/2) cent sales and use tax for economic development as authorized by the Development Corporation Act of 1979, none of those funds shall be used for the reopening of Packery Channel.
