AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 53, TRAFFIC,
SECTION 53-254, SCHEDULE V, INCREASE THE SPEED LIMIT IN
CERTAIN ZONES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 53,
Traffic, Section 53-254, Schedule V, Increase of State Speed Limit in
Certain Zones, be amended by deleting the following sections:
Santa Fe Street:
From north right-of-way line of the north leg of Louisiana
Street to the north right-of-way line of Roberts Drive --
35 MPH -- At all times.
Staples Street:
From Texas Avenue to Holly Road -- 35 MPH -- At all times.
From Texas Avenue to South Padre Island Drive -- 35 MPH --
At all times.
From the south right-of-way line of Texas Avenue to the
south right-of-way line of Burnham Drive -- 35 MPH -- At all
times.
and in lieu thereof adding the following:
Santa Fe Street:
From Hancock Street to Roberts Drive 35 MPH At all
times.
Staples Street:
From Laredo Street to Burnham Drive 35 MPH -- At all
times.
Tancahua Street:
From Agnes Street to Hancock Street -- 35 MPH -- At all
times.
SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph,
subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall
be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of
competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section,
paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this
ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council that

provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the
official publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the
caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance, this
ordinance to become effective upon such publication.
