HomeMy WebLinkAbout020957 ORD - 07/31/1990AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 19917 BY AMENDING SECTION 3 IN ORDER TO ADOPT THE FINAL ASSESSMENT ROLL FOR THE PADRE ISLAND DRIVE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT FROM ONE-HALF MILE NORTH OF THE AIRPORT DITCH TO SOUTH OF STATE HIGHWAY 44, WITH 59 ITEMS TOTALLING $259,506.20; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 19917, passed and approved August 18, 1987, be amended by amending Section 3 so as to adopt the final assessment roll and assessments levied against owners of abutting property on the following street: South Padre Island Drive, S.H. 358 South Padre Island Drive, from 0.5 miles North of the Airport Ditch to South of State Highway 44; a substantial copy of which assessment role is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A". SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs by the adoption of the final, corrected assessment roll as aforesaid, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the tt day of �t , 191/( ATTEST: City Secretary MAYOR APPROVED: DAY OF , 19 HAL GEORGE, CITY ATTORNEY By Assistant City Attorney ORD-RES\90097.ORD.mm 1LL�,yrz THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI FINAL ASSESSMENT ROLL SOUTH PADRE ISLAND DRIVE (S.H. 358) FROM 0.5 MILES NORTHWEST OF AIRPORT DITCH TO SOUTH OF S.H. 44 This project shall include improvements to South Padre Island Drive (S.H. 358) within the described limits. The main highway will consist of two 58' to 72' wide roadway sections divided by a concrete median barrier providing for four lanes of traffic in each direction. Frontage roads will be constructed along each side of the main roadway. The frontage roads will be 36.5' to 58' in width to accommodate two lanes of traffic, off ramps and an emergency parking lane. The frontage roads will be constructed by excavation to a depth to permit the laying of a 6" curb and gutter section on the outboard side and a 6" machine laid curb on the inboard side. The frontage road will be constructed with a 8" lime treated subgrade, a 20" flexible base, 5" to 8" of Type "B" Asphaltic flexible concrete and 11' Type "D" Hot -Mix Asphaltic pavement. There will be 4 foot wide reinforced concrete sidewalks, 4" thick and 6" thick reinforced concrete driveways constructed as shown on the plans. This project is being constructed jointly by the City and the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation and is an improvement assessment project. Based on the low bid price submitted by South Texas Construction Company, Inc. and the City's current assessment policy, owners of abutting property are assessed at the following rates.
