HomeMy WebLinkAbout020991 ORD - 09/25/1990AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A SHORT-TERM LEASE AGREEMENT WITH CENTRIZ OF NORTH AMERICA, INC. FOR OPERATION OF A RENT - A -CAR FACILITY AT CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a Short -Term Lease Agreement with Centriz of North America, Inc. for operation of a rent -a -car facility at Corpus Christi International Airport, all as more fully set forth in the Short -Term Lease Agreement, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit A. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of executing the abovementioned lease agreement at the earliest practicable date, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon iirst rending as an emergencyymeasure this the day of /,/ ; 19 - ATTEST: City Secretary APPROVED: DAY OF HAL GEORGE, CITY ATTORNEY By Assistant City Attorney \ORD-RES\90140 L�- LL/. L 1 ^4�I "C MAYOR THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI , 19 MtCROf1LMEA SHORT TERM LEASE AGREEMENT WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 20387, passed and approved by City Council on July 19, 1988, the City approved, subject to certain conditions, a Lease Agreement to Loma Enterprises, Inc. dba Dollar Rent-A-Car ("Lease"); and WHEREAS, Loma Enterprises, Inc. dba Dollar Rent-A-Car seeks written authority from the City to assign the Lease to Centriz of North America, Inc. ("Centriz"); and WHEREAS, the City desires to consent to the assignment of the Lease to Centriz. WHEREAS, pursuant to City Charter requirements the final lease assignment cannot be effective until 60 days from the date of third reading approval; and WHEREAS, City and Centriz desire a short term lease agreement to be in effect from the date of council approval until the effective date of the long term assignment. NOW, THEREFORE, the parties agree as follows: I. That all terms and conditions of the Dollar Rent-A-Car Concession Agreement dated July 19, 1988, be and remain in force and effect, except City recognizes that the automotive service facility required to be constructed in Article VIII has been constructed. A copy of the Dollar Rent-A-Car Concession Agreement is attached hereto and made a part hereof for all purposes as Exhibit A. This assignment shall be effective from the date of Council's emergency approval until the effective date of the long term lease assignment.
