HomeMy WebLinkAbout021034 ORD - 12/04/1990AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 13, BUILDINGS; CONSTRUCTION AND RELATED OPERATIONS; HOUSING AND HOUSING PREMISES STANDARDS, SECTION 13-93, PERMITS AND FEES, TO REQUIRE PERMITS FOR ELECTRIC UTILITY COMPANIES TO INSTALL EXTERIOR LIGHTING. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 13, Buildings; Construction and Related Operations; Housing and Housing Premises Standards, Section 13-93, Permits and fees, is hereby amended by amending paragraph (a) by adding the following sentence: Provided further, that permits and inspections are expressly required for electric utility companies, their employees and agents, to install any exterior lighting, except exterior lighting located in public street or alley rights-of-way and except exterior lighting located in utility or electric easements recorded on plats filed for record in the plat records of the County Clerk's office, notwithstanding any exemption contained in the National Electrical Code; and electric utility companies shall employ licensed electricians to install such exterior lighting to comply with the standards of the National Electrical Code. SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance, this ordinance to become effective upon such publication.
